Brand Websites Garndering Consumer Trust: Survey - July 10, 2009
While recommendations by personal acquaintances continue to receive top marks, a new Neilsen study finds that consumer opinions posted online and brand websites get similar scores for the next best trusted forms of advertising among online consumers. In fact, the survey of over 25,000 Internet consumers from 50 countries shows that nine in every ten Internet consumers (90%) trust recommendations from people they know, while seven in every ten (70%) trust consumer opinions posted online and brand websites. On the flip side, Neilsen reports that text ads on mobile phones (24%), online banner ads (33%), online video ads (37%) and ads in search engine results (41%) are the forms of advertising least likely to elicit a degree of trust.
