Green is the new green! Environment is a great value proposition for marketers, and marketing is a terrific tool for environmentalists. It's a mutually beneficial convergence and a key trend for Canadian marketing in 2010. In this presentation, Scott will explore key opportunities and challenges for environmental marketing in 2010. This will include: green value in a recession; Greenwashing (and regulatory activity); and market shifts, saturation, and segmentation

Scott McDougall President and Chief Executive Officer, TerraChoice
Scott McDougall is the President and Chief Executive Officer of TerraChoice, North America's premier environmental group of companies. TerraChoice combines science and business expertise to help genuine environmental leaders build market share and accelerate progress towards sustainability. Scott is widely known as an environmental writer and industry expert. He is the author of the Sins of Greenwashing reports, which have been instrumental in garnering mass media attention including TV appearances on Canada AM, Business Week, CBC, CNBC; coverage in publications such as The New York Times, The Economist, Newsweek, Marketing Magazine, The National Post, The Gazette, USA Today, The Sacramento Bee, and Fast Company as well as the UK's The Guardian, Daily Mail and BBC. In addition, he has contributed to several high-profile publications and contributes feature articles on an ongoing basis for a variety of business and other publications that focus on green issues. He is also frequently asked to present at conferences and has recently done two speaking tours in Australia on the topics of Green Marketing and Business. Scott also recently spoke at PAC/Wal-Mart Sustainable Packaging Forum and has shared a stage with Bill Clinton at the GreenBuild Conference in Chicago. Before joining TerraChoice, Scott served on the TerraChoice Board of Directors and was the Regional Vice-President at Jacques Whitford Group, a North American science and engineering consulting firm. Scott is Director of the Ryan's Well Foundation, Member of the Advisory Board to Earthcycle Packaging Inc., Director of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada, Director of Bytown Brigantine Incorporated, Member of the Advisory Board of the University of Ottawa Professional Training Services, Member of the Environment Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Urban Land Trusts in Ottawa, Member of the National Issue Table on Climate Change International Flexibility Mechanisms and Co-chair of the National Working Group on International Emissions Trading. Scott is a biologist by education and has devoted his career to management and marketing in the environmental field. He lives in Chelsea, Quebec, with his wife and two sons.
